Meet Our Founder

Susan J. Mitchell is the founding member and President of S. Mitchell & Associates, LLC based in New York. The firm was started in 2003.

Susan began her career in structured finance of METALS, MINING and ENERGY companies in 1982 with CIBC where she held progressively more senior positions in the Corporate Finance and Treasury divisions.

At CIBC, she conducted over $1 billion in corporate finance transactions and raised $1 billion in primary capital for CIBC's own account, respectively.

In 1995 Susan joined Cyprus Amax Minerals, a $6 billion NYSE-listed company, as Director of Treasury with responsibilities for structured finance, investor support and risk management.

In 1999, she joined WestDeutscheLandesbank as Managing Director of global structured finance where she closed several multi-hundred million dollar transactions, pioneering new business for WestLB.

Then in 2001 she became Director of Risk Solutions with Standard & Poor's in New York, where she played a leading role initiating credit risk management and corporate governance services.

Mitchell has a B.A. from McGill University, Quebec, Canada and an MBA from Thunderbird, Arizona
